“Mira Is an Easy, Accessible, and Refreshing Experience for People Like Me”
Nichole W, a mother to a nine-year-old boy, had a fairly smooth-sailing first pregnancy back in 2011. When she turned 30, Nichole W and her partner both felt that they wanted to have another child. Read on to learn more about Nichole W’s trying to conceive journey and how Mira aided her on this journey.
Complications and difficulties
As a quadriplegic, Nichole W knew that pregnancy for women with paralysis remains uncommon and complicated. The decision to start on the journey of trying to conceive would also come with risks, including dangerous blood clots and high blood pressure.
After months of trying, a visit to a fertility doctor, and dozens of negative tests, the couple finally got pregnant. However, this happiness was short-lived because Nichole W experienced a chemical pregnancy—a very early miscarriage that occurs when an egg is fertilized but doesn’t fully implant in the uterus—shortly after.
Inaccessibility of other fertility products
Nichole W had heard of fertility kits and ovulation test strips that might have been useful for her trying to conceive journey. However, these kits and strips were inaccessible for quadriplegics—they were difficult to use for people who had difficulties manoeuvring their fingers and joints.
Nichole W took matters into her own hands and searched up “Electronic Fertility Devices” online. She saw Mira’s website and was surprised at the positive reviews that clients left on Mira’s page. She decided to give Mira a shot and placed an order almost immediately.
When her package arrived, Nichole W found that unlike other fertility products, the Mira wands were easy for her to use, and she was excited that there finally was a fertility product that was accessible to her.
“The Mira wands were easy for me to dip and stick into the machine. The cheap strips that I got from the store were just too thin for me to grasp. It was messy and difficult to use. Mira was just such an easy and different experience”
Life with Mira
Having used regular menstrual phone apps to track her cycle, Nichole W realized that Mira provided her with information that she never knew about. Particularly, Mira was able to pinpoint exactly when she was ovulating. For example, with Mira, Nichole W learned that she ovulates three days after her LH surge. This helped the couple plan the days that they would try to conceive—instead of merely doing so on the day of the surge and a day after.
Mira helped Nichole W to make sure that she never missed a surge and therefore never missed an opportunity for her to fertilize her egg.
Mira provided actual numbers and detailed information that were easy to understand. She loved that Mira’s products told her exactly what was going on and left no room for misinterpretation.
Nichole W also found that Mira was able to shed light on things that were happening to her within her body. When she began her trying to conceive journey, she had started taking supplements and switched to diets that would aid in her fertility. Mira was able to reflect the positive changes that the supplements had on her body by showing her that she was in fact ovulating earlier than she had ever been. In other words, the Mira Fertility allowed her to get a better understanding of her fertility and health.
“Mira cheered me on as I made the transition to be healthier. It showed me that there were fruits for my efforts.”
Life after Mira
With Mira, Nichole W was able to identify and pinpoint when she was ovulating. The useful information helped the couple to get pregnant. At the time of writing, Nichole W is eight and a half weeks in. Thrilled to have found Mira on her pregnancy journey, Nichole W told everyone she knew about Mira. She even passed down her kit to a close friend who has similar disabilities and is trying to get pregnant.
“There are so many fertility products on the market. But all of these products are just not accessible for people like us. Mira has made this process so much easier and accessible for me.”
