Preventing Pregnancy
I already had one child when I discovered Mira and at the time we weren’t ready for our second. I initially used Mira to track ovulation so I could avoid pregnancy! Using Mira to for natural family planning was great! It helped me understand my cycle and when not to have sex.
I loved being able to use the data to see when my fertile window was happening so we could use protection (or avoid sex altogether) during these times and when I was least likely to get pregnant – and I much preferred this method to hormonal birth control.
I tracked LH, E3G, PdG, and FSH and really got to know my cycle and my hormone levels. I liked the idea of tracking multiple hormones and the app was really helpful for keeping a record month over month.
Flipping It!
Then when we made the decision to expand our family and knew we wanted a second child, I flipped it! I then started using Mira to track ovulation so we knew when to have sex to improve our chances of conceiving!

This is the benefit of understanding your fertile window ahead of time, for many people they may only start tracking their hormones when they have been trying to conceive for a while – and this can be pretty stressful. I love that I was already super in sync with my hormones and my cycle so I had a head start on improving my chances of conceiving, which felt especially important as I had previously been through a miscarriage.
Info For You and Your Healthcare Team
Mira helped me understand my hormonal levels and gave me a good indicator of where my cycle was at – and I am sure this helped me conceive naturally faster. It also gave me something concrete for my doctor to review and help with as needed. During a fertility journey it can be so hard to advocate for yourself with your healthcare provider, but having all of this data to hand made me feel way more empowered!
