The LH hormone concentration can be measured in urine, therefore, a sharp surge of LH in urine indicates ovulation is about to take place within 24-48 hours. These are your two most fertile days, so, if you’re trying to conceive, this is your best time to try!

In the figure, 160 Samples for LH testing and 104 samples for HCG testing were prepared. the samples were analyzed with Mira Analyzer and Abbott ARCHITECT i2000SR (lab-grade analyzer) respectively by corresponding kit or reagent. The accuracy of the Mira analyzer and the correlation with Abbott ARCHITECT i2000SR were calculated.

Basal Body Temperature

After ovulation takes place, your basal body temperatures (BBT) will usually rise from 0.5° F to 1° F within the next 12 to 24 hours. Since eggs only live for one day, the BBT method leaves almost no fertile time to conceive. However, the sperm can survive up to 5 days in mucus secreted in a woman’s fertile days, which means there could be up to 5 more fertile days before ovulation occurs — this is oftentimes missed by the BBT method.

However, a change in your BBT can happen due to environmental and lifestyle factors as well. Calendar Method

If you have a highly regular cycle, you can try to map out your ovulation day based on your cycle’s length and the date your last cycle started. Ovulation will usually take place 12-16 days before your next period starts. In order to fully understand the pattern, you’ll need to record at least two full cycles. But even if your cycles are regular, your ovulation days might shift based on lifestyle and health conditions.

Mucus Observation

As your menstrual cycle progresses, your mucus changes. Right after your period ends, there is usually little to no cervical mucus present. As your cycle continues, it feels stickier and looks creamier. During the days prior to ovulation, it resembles a raw egg white and is very stretchy (this is your fertile mucus). While mucus observation can help you become aware of your fertility window, it can be affected by lifestyle, sex, infections, and other factors.
