How to Use the Mira App

The following guide for using the Mira App is broken down into three simple steps:
- Download and set up
- Connect your Mira device
- Track your data

1. Download and Set Up
First, you’ll need to download the Mira App. You can find the app on the Apple App Store or Google Play.
Once downloaded, you’ll want to create an account – creating an account is simple and only takes a few minutes. When you open the app, you’ll see a screen that says, “Create Account.” Follow the on-screen directions to set up your account.
Next, plug in your email and create a password that you’ll remember.
Once you’ve created your account, follow the on-screen directions to complete your profile. First, set your goals, which will help you understand when to have sex or to avoid it. Next, we’ll need to get a little bit of info to help us deliver the most accurate and personalized data. Put in your birth year and the date of your last period (this information is optional but recommended).
Voila, account created!
“Can I track my cycles in the Mira App even if I don’t have the Mira Monitor?”
Yes, sure. You can still make the most of the Mira App’s capabilities to gain valuable insights into your reproductive well-being.

2. Connect Your Mira Device
Now that you’ve got your account set up, it’s time to connect your Mira device to the app – don’t worry, it’s super simple!
- Connecting your Mira Monitor: Make sure your Mira Monitor is turned on, as well as your Bluetooth settings on both your phone and the analyzer. Next, the app will search to connect. Once found, a number will appear on your screen. Tap if what you see matches.
- Connecting your Mira BBT Thermometer: Make sure your Mira BBT Thermometer is turned on, as well as the Bluetooth settings on both your phone and the thermometer. Next, the app will search to connect. Once found, a number will appear on your screen. Tap if what you see matches.
You’re connected! Now, it’s time to start tracking!

3. Track Your Data
If you are using a Mira device (i.e. the hormone analyzer and/or the BBT thermometer) and it is connected to the Mira App, any data recorded on the device will be automatically synced with the app.
Your home screen will show personalized data about your cycle – including period information, hormone levels (if using the Mira Monitor), basal body temperature (if using the BBT thermometer), cervical mucus, and more.
You can also log information about your mood, symptoms, medication, sex drive, and more.
By manually logging as much information as possible, you are able to better understand your body’s natural fertility symptoms. This also allows Mira’s AI (which is trained on over 15 million hormone data points) to deliver more concise and accurate information about your cycle.
To view when you’re ovulating, most fertile, or expecting your period, click on the calendar icon to see the calendar screen. Here you’ll see notes about your luteinizing hormone (LH) surge, fertile window, when to have sex, and data that’s been logged.
You can also click on the chart icon to view key information about your cycle and hormone patterns. From the chart icon, you can:
- Navigate through your cycle and access detailed information for any selected day – such as your menstrual cycle day/phase, chances of conception, fertile window, and day of ovulation.
- Gain in-depth insights into your cycle and compare your charts to other Mira users.
- Check to see if your hormone levels are within the expected range for any given day.
- Identify key events like LH peak, ovulation day, and PdG rise.
- Generate reports to share with your doctor or fertility specialist.
- Receive tailored insights, health tips, and recommendations based on your individual data and fertility goals.
By clicking the heart icon, you’ll find our news section which is packed with educational articles, free webinars and ebooks, and success stories from other Mira customers.
If you need additional support, you can always click the “?” help icon which can be found in your profile section (located in the top left-hand corner). Here you can contact customer support, get answers about how to use the Mira Monitor, learn where you can purchase more wands, and manage your account.

Knowing When to Test
If you are using the Mira BBT Thermometer, it is recommended to start measuring your BBT on the first morning after your period starts. After that, make sure to measure each day as soon as you wake up for at least 3 months!
If you are using the Mira Hormone Monitor to test and track your fertility hormones, when you will test depends on your cycle length and fertility goals. Typically, it’s possible for testing to be required every day after your period or every 2-3 days.
To learn more about when to test your hormones using Mira, check out the article: The Mira App: How do I know when to test my hormones?
Your ‘Fertility Score’ Explained
The ‘Fertility Score’ is a number that ranges from 1 to 10, and it can easily be found on the app’s homepage.
Mira has created this score to help you understand your fertility level during each cycle, enabling you to plan intercourse/insemination accordingly.
The highest fertility score (i.e. the highest chance of conception) is on the day of the LH peak, with ovulation typically occurring 12 hours after the LH peak (green icon on the cycle wheel).
Here is a simple translation:
Fertility Scores | Ovulation Status | Fertility Status | Chance of conception |
1-5 | Non-ovulatory days | Non-fertile window | Unlikely, but not impossible. The chances of pregnancy after intercourse/insemination are low. |
6-8 | 3 days before or 2 days after ovulation | Fertile window | Intercourse/insemination can lead to pregnancy. |
9-10 | Ovulation is likely to happen within 24 hours | Most fertile days | Intercourse/insemination during the next 24 hours has the highest chance of pregnancy during a cycle. |

Reading Mira Charts
You do not need to be a medical expert in order to interpret your Mira charts.
If you’re still getting used to Mira’s basic features, you can just monitor your Fertility Score (on the homepage) and Ovulation Day Prediction (on the chart and calendar pages). This prediction is based on key cycle characteristics such as your cycle length, variability, the first day of your last period, and your period length.
If you are using the Mira Monitor to measure and track hormone data, you can use your hormone charts to estimate your fertile window and pinpoint ovulation.
- The first indicator of upcoming ovulation is an E3G peak. After this peak, LH normally peaks within 1-3 days. After the LH peak, ovulation typically occurs within 10-12 hours.
- E3G may fluctuate in the days after your period but before ovulation (i.e. the follicular phase), meaning you may notice small peaks of E3G before the main peak ahead of ovulation.
- To confirm that ovulation actually happened, you can track PdG, which should rise for several days after your LH peak.
It’s important to note that Mira’s AI technology doesn’t just rely on one single hormone measurement to estimate ovulation and your fertile window.
Instead, it looks at your own unique patterns and compares multiple data points. This includes the levels and frequencies of hormone peaks during each cycle, your baseline hormone level, how different hormone peaks relate to each other, patterns from your past cycles, and patterns seen in other users with similar cycles.

Estradiol Metabolite (E3G)

1-5 ug/mL | 3-7.5 ug/mL | 5-25 ug/mL |
Follicle-Stimulating Hormone (FSH)

When measuring and tracking your results, it’s important to keep your focus on your overall hormone curves – instead of specific numerical values. As Mira learns more and more about your hormone patterns, it will create a unique trend and make predictions for you.
It’s also important to remember that it’s totally normal for hormone levels to fluctuate. So if you’re seeing some strange numbers – don’t be alarmed. Hormone levels can vary greatly from person to person and even cycle to cycle.
