“Everyone makes it seem like getting pregnant is easy. You just pull the goalie and a few months later you’re pregnant right? This wasn’t my experience and after multiple doctor visits and fertility treatments I was losing hope. I was told that IVF was my only hope but given the cost of those treatments, and the size of my bank account, I knew I had to find a way. This is my story of how I used at-home hormone testing with the Mira device to conceive.”
My history
“If you’re not familiar with PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome), it’s a hormonal condition that affects the ovaries and can interfere with ovulation. My PCOS makes it very difficult for me to track my cycle and pinpoint ovulation. Obviously, when you’re trying to conceive, this can make life difficult. Others make it look so simple but after a few months of trying, we realized it’s not as easy as people make it seem.
I knew that I might face challenges getting pregnant with PCOS. After 6 months of trying, with no success, we turned to intrauterine insemination (IUI) as a first intervention fertility treatment. We did 3 cycles of IUI but all of them failed and we were losing hope.
Our fertility specialist suggested IVF as our best option. Unfortunately, IVF was not a possibility given the cost of treatment, and there was no guarantee it would work. It’s a hard hit to take when you are desperate to get pregnant and I was heartbroken. I started searching for solutions, but had lost a lot of hope throughout the whole process.”
Finding Mira
“When I ordered Mira, I wasn’t actually hopeful that it would even work. Since IVF wasn’t an option, using at-home hormone testing was going to have to be the next best thing. But I seriously questioned whether this device could help at all. I thought if the doctor couldn’t make it happen for me, how was Mira going to help?
I am eternally grateful I came across Mira because after only our 2nd month of using it we were able to conceive. I am so confident this would not have happened if I hadn’t started using it. Not only did it give me so much information about my cycle and hormones, it led me to successfully conceiving.”
Advice for others
I would recommend Mira to anyone struggling to conceive or looking for more information about their cycle. PCOS had always made it difficult for me to track and predict my cycle so I found it especially helpful to pinpoint ovulation.
It’s hard to stay positive and hopeful when you’re struggling to conceive. I was at the end of my rope and didn’t have much hope left. I took a chance on Mira and I’m so glad I did!
